Redmine EML - Bug #2507: Data Manager Library: Create a EML parser lib to digest eml documenthttps://projects.ecoinformatics.org/ecoinfo/issues/2507#change-85722006-08-08T21:15:26ZJames Bruntjbrunt@lternet.edu

I like loader but it's not a perfect fit for the way the work is divided which is more like parse (eml) -> create (table) -> source (data). Correct?
Morpho - Bug #2280: methodStep creation errorhttps://projects.ecoinformatics.org/ecoinfo/issues/2280#change-77742005-11-17T21:12:35ZJames Bruntjbrunt@lternet.edu

Some additional investigation - the Morpho editor is trying to enforce a
requirement of a <para> as part of the <methodStep>
where as the
text type is supposed to be a choice of a <para> or a
. The wizard
creates a
thus the conflict is between the wizard and the editor - the
editor not enforcing the schema properly.
Morpho - Bug #2280 (Resolved): methodStep creation errorhttps://projects.ecoinformatics.org/ecoinfo/issues/22802005-11-17T20:58:59ZJames Bruntjbrunt@lternet.edu

When creating the method step in the ingestion wizard - you enter a title and
description - this creates a section, title, and paragraph. But there is a
paragraph required after methodStep that doesn't get filled in. Then if you try
to edit that empty field can't be deleted or trimmed.
EML - Bug #2054: use of <any> in additionalMetadata is invalidhttps://projects.ecoinformatics.org/ecoinfo/issues/2054#change-70242005-03-31T22:28:52ZJames Bruntjbrunt@lternet.edu

Matt's suggestion to create a <metadata> element seems OK to me - it's just as
easy as any of the others to retrofit maybe easier because you could just dump
the <any> into it without worrying about multiple <describes> that may or may
not be there. I guess I was confused about the use of <describes> then since it
was just a string - seems it was designed to be used like a triplet? seems like
if this is the purpose then it (<describes>) should be more constrained?
EML - Bug #2054: use of <any> in additionalMetadata is invalidhttps://projects.ecoinformatics.org/ecoinfo/issues/2054#change-70212005-03-31T20:24:04ZJames Bruntjbrunt@lternet.edu

<additionalMetadata> is already unbounded though so making <describes>
required and solo seems the best option. Wouldn't be to hard to take
each <describes> and create a new <additionalMetadata> container for it
to retrofit existing documents. How many documents in metacat currently
use multiple <describes>?

I've got David scheduled to work on this and I would like to work on it as well
- perhaps we could chat and divy up the pieces - James
EML - Bug #495: create FAQ for EMLhttps://projects.ecoinformatics.org/ecoinfo/issues/495#change-17332002-09-09T17:26:48ZJames Bruntjbrunt@lternet.edu

Chad, this looks great. Being not familiar with Docbook can you tell me how to
insert sectioning into the QandA feature?
EML - Bug #495: create FAQ for EMLhttps://projects.ecoinformatics.org/ecoinfo/issues/495#change-17302002-09-05T20:58:28ZJames Bruntjbrunt@lternet.edu

I've checked the first real draft into cvs for comments, formatting, additions,
etc. I'm hoping someone will take on the formatting and provide a template for
the further development and maintenance. There needs to be provisions for
subsectioning I think because I can see questions developing along several
lines. I won't close out this bug until we have a real working version that the
group feels is acceptable for publication. - James
EML - Bug #495: create FAQ for EMLhttps://projects.ecoinformatics.org/ecoinfo/issues/495#change-17292002-08-30T17:55:14ZJames Bruntjbrunt@lternet.edu

I've added some more text and formatted the document. I've got a lot of editing
and polishing and some more answers to make up but I wanted to get this up
before I head out for the long weekend.
EML - Bug #495: create FAQ for EMLhttps://projects.ecoinformatics.org/ecoinfo/issues/495#change-17282002-08-27T15:13:08ZJames Bruntjbrunt@lternet.edu

I would appreciate suggestions on the formatting. I have this homegrown one that
Matt did that I can modify to have section identifiers but if someone has
something more standard I'd appreciate it.

I've added another page of questions from my yellow pad and some more answers.
Still unedited for the most part. Since I don't know if my previous comments
will be deprecated I will repeat them - I'm shooting for an XML formatted
version that is somewhat polished by Friday 30 Aug - send any favorite
questions and any favorite answers.
OK, but remember you asked for it - I'm still working from my yellow pad notes
and I haven't formatted it in XML yet but here it is. I'll try to have a
formatted version with a little polish by Friday 30 Aug. I'll take any
favorites you have - answers which I'll wordsmith are also most welcom.
EML - Bug #495: create FAQ for EMLhttps://projects.ecoinformatics.org/ecoinfo/issues/495#change-17232002-08-21T20:35:52ZJames Bruntjbrunt@lternet.edu

I've been working on this and should have a draft ready in a couple of weeks -
I'll call for additional favorite FAQ's soon.
