Redmine Metacat - Bug #98 (Resolved): add download action to marineservlethttps://projects.ecoinformatics.org/ecoinfo/issues/982000-08-23T22:21:03ZChad Berkleyberkley@nceas.ucsb.edu

An action to download a dataset from the DB needs to be added to marineServlet
Metacat - Bug #97 (Resolved): combine printExtendedSQL and printSQL methods into onehttps://projects.ecoinformatics.org/ecoinfo/issues/972000-08-23T22:18:44ZChad Berkleyberkley@nceas.ucsb.edu

The printExtendedSQL and printSQL methods of QuerySpecification can be combined
into one method that works like printExtendedSQL but takes all of its parameters
except for doctype from the returnfield tag in the pathquery document.
Metacat - Bug #96 (Resolved): Fix browse function in MARINE servlethttps://projects.ecoinformatics.org/ecoinfo/issues/962000-08-23T22:15:35ZChad Berkleyberkley@nceas.ucsb.edu

The browse function in marineServlet needs to be implemented in a way that
allows the browsing by different fields. Currently it is a simple query that
returns all documents in the database and displays them like any other
document. This task is open to further discussion about functionality and
implimentation.
Metacat - Bug #93 (Resolved): allow dynamic addition of actionshttps://projects.ecoinformatics.org/ecoinfo/issues/932000-08-21T18:59:19ZChad Berkleyberkley@nceas.ucsb.edu

Instead of hard coding in each action into metacat, actions could be loaded
dynamically by defining a class which contains a method that executes the action
specified. This class would be modeled around another abstract class to define
the method name and any instance variables that would be needed. MetaCat would
then dynamically load the class to handle the action. The action->class mapping
could be handled by the xml_catalog table or by a properties file. This
implements a type of "plug-in" that would allow metacat to handle any new
actions without being recompiled.
Metacat - Bug #61 (Resolved): new resultset dtd spechttps://projects.ecoinformatics.org/ecoinfo/issues/612000-08-09T21:51:40ZChad Berkleyberkley@nceas.ucsb.edu

for return type make a instead of
. This can be
used for more specific stylesheet creation. This also allows implementing
variable resultsets depending on what client requests.
Metacat - Bug #60 (Resolved): use querySpecificationhttps://projects.ecoinformatics.org/ecoinfo/issues/602000-08-09T21:48:50ZChad Berkleyberkley@nceas.ucsb.edu

All queries should be created through querySpecification instead of creating the
sql withing the client servlet.
Metacat - Bug #59 (Resolved): create a more general specification for querieshttps://projects.ecoinformatics.org/ecoinfo/issues/592000-08-09T21:47:43ZChad Berkleyberkley@nceas.ucsb.edu

work on a way to search through different fields from
different standards making the query more general
Metacat - Bug #58 (Resolved): add eml-resource to the cataloghttps://projects.ecoinformatics.org/ecoinfo/issues/582000-08-09T21:18:24ZChad Berkleyberkley@nceas.ucsb.edu

eml-resource should be added to the catalog with the appropriate stylesheet. It
also needs to be added to the sqlcatlist table in the database.
Metacat - Bug #57 (Resolved): changes to handleQueryActionhttps://projects.ecoinformatics.org/ecoinfo/issues/572000-08-09T21:16:37ZChad Berkleyberkley@nceas.ucsb.edu

split handleQueryAction into three seperate functions. One to create a query
(createQuery), another to create an squery (createSQuery) and another (runQuery)
to run the query and handle the results. Any of these functions can be easily
overwritten for customized results. handleQueryAction can call the appropriate
functions.
Metacat - Bug #56 (Resolved): code shifts and removalshttps://projects.ecoinformatics.org/ecoinfo/issues/562000-08-09T21:10:53ZChad Berkleyberkley@nceas.ucsb.edu

The following methods should be removed from marineServlet since they are
already implemented in metacatServlet:
doGet, doPost, init

handleViewDocumentation should be removed because it is the same as the
getdocument action.

viewAbstract and handleDownload actions should be added to metacatServlet. All
new actions should be implemented in metacatServlet.

click information decoding should be moved to marineServlet out of
metacatServlet to allow for more specific coordinate decoding.

viewAbstract should be integrated into getdocumentaction

remove the init action
Metacat - Bug #55 (Resolved): change order of fieldshttps://projects.ecoinformatics.org/ecoinfo/issues/552000-08-09T21:00:47ZChad Berkleyberkley@nceas.ucsb.edu

The order of the fields should be the following.
title alt title
keywords any field

Dataset Owner (first name and last name) should be right next to each other
rather than split up.
Metacat - Bug #54 (Resolved): title and altitle fields are too smallhttps://projects.ecoinformatics.org/ecoinfo/issues/542000-08-09T20:58:35ZChad Berkleyberkley@nceas.ucsb.edu

title and alttitle should be larger than 15 characters.
Metacat - Bug #53 (Resolved): Interface does not look good in 800x600https://projects.ecoinformatics.org/ecoinfo/issues/532000-08-09T20:56:45ZChad Berkleyberkley@nceas.ucsb.edu

Change the interface so that the graphics are not as big in lower resolutions
Metacat - Bug #52 (Resolved): Change link to project abstracthttps://projects.ecoinformatics.org/ecoinfo/issues/522000-08-09T20:55:01ZChad Berkleyberkley@nceas.ucsb.edu

The link should be www.nceas.ucsb.edu/marinedata/
Metacat - Bug #51 (Resolved): adding a non-well-formed document results in a "success" messagehttps://projects.ecoinformatics.org/ecoinfo/issues/512000-08-07T22:06:51ZChad Berkleyberkley@nceas.ucsb.edu

When inserting an xml document that was not well formed into the database, the
servlet returned the following error:
fatal processing error

<success>
<docid></docid>
</success>

The error should indicate that the document is not well formed and should not
indicate "success".
