Redmine Metacat - Bug #5273 (Resolved): docs with inline-data allow invalid xml into metacathttps://projects.ecoinformatics.org/ecoinfo/issues/52732011-01-13T17:37:32ZChad Berkleyberkley@nceas.ucsb.edu

If you insert a document with inline-data, the data is stripped out of the document before it is validated. However, when you do a GET on the document, it is read off of the disk. So if you insert a doc with inline-data that has invalid characters in it (like unescaped ampersands), metacat will not recognize that it is invalid, but when you try to get the document, you will get a parser error if you try to parse it.

We should be validating the document first before stripping inline-data out of it.
Kepler - Bug #4943 (Resolved): RC5 Installer Tracking Bughttps://projects.ecoinformatics.org/ecoinfo/issues/49432010-04-19T18:39:33ZChad Berkleyberkley@nceas.ucsb.edu

Please have all RC1 installer bugs block this bug.
Kepler - Bug #4667 (In Progress): New documentation on modules and extension points for moduleshttps://projects.ecoinformatics.org/ecoinfo/issues/46672010-01-13T22:49:25ZChad Berkleyberkley@nceas.ucsb.edu

Should include information on the config system, karentryhandlers, viewpanes,
adding icons to the config, etc. See the Initialize methods of wrm and provenance for more info.
Kepler - Bug #4516 (Resolved): Module Manager needs ability to install modules needed by KARshttps://projects.ecoinformatics.org/ecoinfo/issues/45162009-10-29T19:15:35ZChad Berkleyberkley@nceas.ucsb.edu

The roadmap specifies that the module manager should be able to automatically install modules needed by a specific KAR file.

To close this bug, demonstrate that the module manager can automatically install a module needed by a kar file at runtime.
Kepler - Bug #4112 (New): make kepler use OSX dialog boxeshttps://projects.ecoinformatics.org/ecoinfo/issues/41122009-05-27T23:13:59ZChad Berkleyberkley@nceas.ucsb.edu

Add configuration to the mac extensions to make kepler use the OSX file open/save dialog boxes instead of the default java ones.
Metacat - Bug #3402 (In Progress): internal dtds are not handledhttps://projects.ecoinformatics.org/ecoinfo/issues/34022008-06-19T18:52:33ZChad Berkleyberkley@nceas.ucsb.edu

XML documents with internal DTDs are not handled by metacat. The internal dtd entity callback in the sax parser is blank and doesn't do anything when presented with an internal dtd.
Metacat - Bug #3397 (Resolved): metacat needs server side sort mechanismhttps://projects.ecoinformatics.org/ecoinfo/issues/33972008-06-16T23:38:50ZChad Berkleyberkley@nceas.ucsb.edu

in the past, we've been using xslt to sort search results going to a browser or client. This works fine until you use paged search results when you need the results sorted before the paging takes place. we need to add functionality to give the server an attribute to sort on before it pages the results. this should probably work similar to the returnfields mechanism (or with the returnfields mechanism).
Metacat - Bug #3395 (Closed): allow private access via indexed "shortcut" urlhttps://projects.ecoinformatics.org/ecoinfo/issues/33952008-06-12T20:03:33ZChad Berkleyberkley@nceas.ucsb.edu

Currently you can read documents using the url http://server.com/metacat/metacat/docid.1.1. This only works for public documents. I understand it was originally intended to allow search engines to index the public metacat documents, but I find no reason why this url should not be able to perform access control just like the other url (docid=docid.1.1&action=read). They should behave identically. This will allow for more succinct urls to be sent between people and machines.
Morpho - Bug #1832 (In Progress): need "save as" functionality in morphohttps://projects.ecoinformatics.org/ecoinfo/issues/18322004-12-15T18:22:44ZChad Berkleyberkley@nceas.ucsb.edu

users have requested a "save as" function in morpho so they can just change
small numbers of metadata fields for entering similar datasets. I think the
code already exists to do this because morpho will reassign package id's if it
finds a conflict. we just need to make this functionality accessible via a menu.
Morpho - Bug #1708 (Resolved): data import wizard crashes when you click finishhttps://projects.ecoinformatics.org/ecoinfo/issues/17082004-09-29T22:21:58ZChad Berkleyberkley@nceas.ucsb.edu

several people at the KNB workshop reported that the import wizard crashed when
they clicked the finish button causing them to loose all of their input. the
error was "cannot find entity". I'm not sure how to reproduce this, but it has
been reported by multiple people. after this happens, morpho itself does not
crash but it also does not work correctly after this happens.
Morpho - Bug #1459 (New): party editing efficiency additionshttps://projects.ecoinformatics.org/ecoinfo/issues/14592004-04-08T21:10:01ZChad Berkleyberkley@nceas.ucsb.edu

this is a continuation of bug 669. Only the relevant, incomplete items from 669
are included here.

1) Collect contact information about the user in the profile. When they type
their last name in a eml-party surname field, pop up a window asking if they
want to use their own info, and fill it in for them if they say yes.

2) When someone enters a surname in, look it up in ldap, either on each
keystroke, or when they move to the next field. This may be something we want
to ask metacat to do. Pop up a dialog that doesn't prevent them from continuing
to enter the name, and ask if they want to use one of the ldap entries. If they
say yes, format the entry in EML and fill in the values for them.
Monarch - Bug #944 (In Progress): write eml -> nbii xsl sheethttps://projects.ecoinformatics.org/ecoinfo/issues/9442003-01-13T22:19:05ZChad Berkleyberkley@nceas.ucsb.edu

need to write an xsl stylesheet to convert eml to nbii. this will be used to
fulfill a marine requirement to do so. will work with monarch xslt plugin.
EML - Bug #585 (Closed): internationalization needed in EMLhttps://projects.ecoinformatics.org/ecoinfo/issues/5852002-09-06T22:56:58ZChad Berkleyberkley@nceas.ucsb.edu

We need ot investigate possible internationalizing EML. Maybe by using enabling
the use of 'lang' attributes.
Metacat - Bug #421 (In Progress): create simple turnkey installer for metacat Phase IIhttps://projects.ecoinformatics.org/ecoinfo/issues/4212002-02-13T18:32:47ZChad Berkleyberkley@nceas.ucsb.edu

we need to use the previously protyped metacat installer to build a robust, one
click installer for metacat that includes Tomcat, Ant, Metacat, PostgresSQL and
any other tools that are necessary.

We should do this for the next release of Metacat.
Metacat - Bug #129 (Closed): Metacat Performance: paged Query Returnshttps://projects.ecoinformatics.org/ecoinfo/issues/1292000-09-20T20:02:40ZChad Berkleyberkley@nceas.ucsb.edu

If a query returns more than n results, then only n results should be shown to
the user at a time. This functionality is similar to a commercial search engine
that only shows the user "results 1-25" then you click a "next 25" button to get
to the next page of results.
