Redmine Metacat - Bug #3460 (New): remove lsid section from citation section of xsl for skins OTHER than ESAhttps://projects.ecoinformatics.org/ecoinfo/issues/34602008-07-25T18:28:33ZCallie Bowdishbowdish@nceas.ucsb.edu

Currently only the ESA domain is set up to work with lsid. We need to delete the lsid section from the stylesheets that create the citation section for the data sets other than ESA ones.

Here is an example

Data Set Citation
Walker M. . A Circumpolar Comparison of Tundra Response to Temperature Manipulation: A Synthesis of International Tundra Experiment Data.
KNB Data Registry: urn:lsid:knb.ecoinformatics.org:nceas:146:8 (http://knb.ecoinformatics.org/knb/metacat/nceas.146.8/nceas).

It was hoped that this would be set up for this release but there was more involved than anticipated
Morpho - Bug #3454 (Resolved): Fixing docid conflicts in metacat or local filehttps://projects.ecoinformatics.org/ecoinfo/issues/34542008-07-16T22:51:12ZCallie Bowdishbowdish@nceas.ucsb.edu

Having Morpho profiles information loaded on different computers can cause file conflicts. One way to prevent this is by having each profile have a different identifier prefix. This does not require that a user have a different network account or even different profile name. However the part that should be unique is the Identifier prefix which is used as the scope for the document id. The following text can be added to the Data Package Identification part of creating a profile. It is stored in the profile under the scope element.

Text to replace the current text:

Enter a short identifier prefix. All data packages you create under this profile will bear this prefix. To prevent data package name conflicts it is recommended that you create a different prefix for each computer you load Morpho on.

Please note that if the naming conventions, such as global lisd names, for data packages change the use of this to prevent file conflicts may become obsolete.

Currently bug 3120 describes a section of the profile creation form that is not displaying correctly. It may be convenient to fix both of these as the same time.
Metacat - Bug #3435 (New): Confusion on how Metcat searches a string which is differnet than Googlehttps://projects.ecoinformatics.org/ecoinfo/issues/34352008-06-26T22:51:52ZCallie Bowdishbowdish@nceas.ucsb.edu

Some users expect Metacat searches to work like Google. Google works as if there is a boolean "and" between each word in a string.

If a user is looking for a title such as, Kruger National Park river flow data, and types in, Kruger river he will not bring up a data set. This is confusing to some users because currently Google adds (behind the scenes) the "and" between each word in a string. The user is unaware of the "and" being added. In Google if you want a phrase you add the Quotes.
Metacat - Bug #3412 (New): Kml file needs work- data set points icon and points "splitting" when ...https://projects.ecoinformatics.org/ecoinfo/issues/34122008-06-23T16:23:27ZCallie Bowdishbowdish@nceas.ucsb.edu

The kml file that can be downloading in the Data Catalog Map (Dowonload Goggle Earth KML) pages needs some improvements. The data set black icons can be replaced with a different setting or graphic file and they turn into many dots when they are clicked on. I think this happens even when there is just one data set associated with that dot.
Metacat - Bug #3390 (New): Data Catalog Map and IE 7.0.5730.11 brings up pop up windows that can ...https://projects.ecoinformatics.org/ecoinfo/issues/33902008-06-10T18:26:53ZCallie Bowdishbowdish@nceas.ucsb.edu

Data Catalog Map and IE (Internet Explorer 7.0.5730.11) brings up pop up windows that can be a problem. Most of them go away after following the instruction to downloading the add-on: 'MSXML 5.0' from 'Microsoft Corporation'. There are a number of dialog boxes that need to be responded to in the process. I will attached a file with the snapshots of some of the dialog boxes.
Metacat - Bug #3389 (Resolved): FGDC files do not go to the most recent version when the version ...https://projects.ecoinformatics.org/ecoinfo/issues/33892008-06-10T15:53:55ZCallie Bowdishbowdish@nceas.ucsb.edu

FGDC files do not go to the most recent version when the version number is not included. They also do not include the download option if the version number is not in the path.

ESA email from moderator when the data package is accepted does not have the correct path to the data package.

Example

Dear Callie Bowdish,

We are happy to inform you that the metadata entry for your article submission,
Cedar creek, has been accepted. This part of the submission process is now
complete. Your metadata entry can be cited in the future as <LSID>, and will be
viewable online at /metacat/metacat?action=read&cfg=esa&docid=esa.5 after publication. Thank you for your cooperation.

The Ecological Society of America
Morpho - Bug #3358 (Resolved): Correcting invalid eml 201 document downloaded from metacat 1.8.0https://projects.ecoinformatics.org/ecoinfo/issues/33582008-06-03T16:29:40ZCallie Bowdishbowdish@nceas.ucsb.edu

There is the possibility of older documents with illegal eml trying to be saved to Metacat. If these older versions have illegal eml elements in them there will be an error. The end user working with Morpho, trying to save an illegal eml data package, will not see the error. They will just notice that the data package did not save to the network. (The error will be in stderr.log in the Morpho application directory)

The 1.8.1 release of Metacat fixes an EML error in the element 'references' that documents saved up to Metacat in an earlier release may contain. If a document, that has been downloaded from an earlier version of Metacat, contains the element that looks like this <references system="document"> there will be an error when trying to save it to the new release of Metacat.

The error is: cvc-type.3.1.1: [attributes] of element 'references' must be empty, excepting those whose [namespace name] is identical to http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance and whose [local name] is one of type, nil, schemaLocation or noNamespaceSchemaLocation.

Documents on Metacat 1.8.1 have had the illegal attribute removed by a script that runs upon instillation. If you want to save a data set with this error you will need to remove the system="document" part of the references tag.
Metacat - Bug #3354 (Resolved): The online form has problems with editing and maintaining the ema...https://projects.ecoinformatics.org/ecoinfo/issues/33542008-06-02T21:38:56ZCallie Bowdishbowdish@nceas.ucsb.edu

The online form has problems with editing and maintaining the email address. When a data set is submitted and then an edit request is given most of the data is there. However the email entires that were there before are missing. Is this intended to happen. I think it would be easy for the doing the editing to assume that the email address is already entered. In those cases the edited data package would not have a owner or contact email address.
Metacat - Bug #3331 (New): ldap redirect does not work correctly if one of the ldap servers are downhttps://projects.ecoinformatics.org/ecoinfo/issues/33312008-05-27T21:36:18ZCallie Bowdishbowdish@nceas.ucsb.edu

When one of the ldap servers are down the ldap redirect does not work correctly. One example is when a ldap account is not located on the server that someone is logging into. For instance logging into KNB with a SanParks account would require that the KNB ldap redirect the login request to the SanParks ldap server. If any of the other ldap servers are down such as a network outage on PISCO the redirect will not work correctly. We need someway to automatically reject a down ldap server and continue with redirecting to the ldap servers that work. Maybe we need to include a memo box saying that the server is down if the account is on the ldap server that is down.

Also Morpho is unable to refresh the access tree when any of ldap servers is down.
Metacat - Bug #3322 (Resolved): View interactive map Link at the bottom of the nrs and obfs does ...https://projects.ecoinformatics.org/ecoinfo/issues/33222008-05-27T17:13:32ZCallie Bowdishbowdish@nceas.ucsb.edu

This feature does not work on the test server. On the production server it searches all of the knb data sets. I think this is confusing because the other searches only search for data that are associated with that skins organization. Also the NCEAS skin does not have a link to "View interactive Map"

Currently this View interactive map feature does not work on Safari and the new bata version of Firefox
Morpho - Bug #3314 (Resolved): Morpho abstract search comes up with 0https://projects.ecoinformatics.org/ecoinfo/issues/33142008-05-22T21:43:09ZCallie Bowdishbowdish@nceas.ucsb.edu

The Morpho search only for abstract comes up with zero even if that word is part of abstracts on the server. This bug is similar to 3177
EML - Bug #3313 (Resolved): Edit EML documentation for access controlhttps://projects.ecoinformatics.org/ecoinfo/issues/33132008-05-22T21:15:22ZCallie Bowdishbowdish@nceas.ucsb.edu

The ability to restrict access is a common request. I think it would be good to add the following information regarding how to restrict access to a dataTable. I think this is the most common request.

The description at this location http://knb.ecoinformatics.org/software/eml/eml-2.0.1/index.html#N100A8

would be more helpful with the following addition.

---
An example for restricting a dataTable but not the metadata about the dataTable would require editing a specific distribution element. It is nested inside these elelments: <dataTable><physical><distribution><distribution/></physical></dataTable>. There will be other elements nested inside the dataTable element but the distribution element inside the physical element which is inside the dataTable element is the one that needs to be referenced by its ID. The ID needs to be added to the distribution element. <distribution id="999999">. The id needs to be a unique number within the eml file.
----

I think it would be good to add the text in the section two part of the second paragraph, after "... element by referencing its unique id."
Metacat - Task #3306 (Closed): NCEAS skin account creation needs more thoughthttps://projects.ecoinformatics.org/ecoinfo/issues/33062008-05-21T17:24:36ZCallie Bowdishbowdish@nceas.ucsb.edu

After creating an unaffiliated account on the NCEAS skin "Create a new account" link you get the message below. It does not give the option to go to the NCEAS online registry link.

Registration Succeeded!
You have successfully created an account on the Knowledge Network for Biocomplexity (KNB). You can use this account to share data with collaborators or with the general scientific community by downloading and installing the Morpho software package. Thank you for your interest in the KNB!

Also it does not have the NCEAS look and feel.

There is also the question of if we want NCEAS' user to use the unaffiliated account. Perhaps if they are registering in the NCEAS data repository and do not have an affiliation they should be having Nick create them an account.

There is a link to KNB and to the Morpho user guide on the text that appears after a successful account creation. We do not want NCEAS projects to use the KNB registration form, we want them to use the NCEAS Data Repository form.

I would like to see it use the NCEAS look and feel and include a link back to the NCEAS repository. I do not think we need the link to Morpho. But if we had it, it would be better if it went to the Morpho download site.
Metacat - Bug #3218 (Closed): nceas skin front page has font size differenceshttps://projects.ecoinformatics.org/ecoinfo/issues/32182008-04-10T18:44:06ZCallie Bowdishbowdish@nceas.ucsb.edu

The font on the front page for the nceas skin changes when inside the boxes (Search for Datasets and Register information about a new NCEAS data set. It would look better if the font was the same size.
