Redmine Bug #4918 (New): New feature request (inter-related multi-part questions)https://projects.ecoinformatics.org/ecoinfo/issues/49182010-03-31T03:12:09ZSandeep Namilikondasandeep.namilikonda@gmail.com

A multi-part question can sometimes be framed in such a way that the answer
to an earlier part could serve as the basis for the subsequent parts (questions).
Two issues can be thought off.
a) Does each part need to have the text corresponding to all the preceding parts
in order to put the question in context?
b) When a user's search on the FIRST web interface returns specific assessment
items (unlike the whole assessments being returned currently) and one of those
items happens to be a part of a multi-part question, would it be possible for the
user to be able to retrieve the related parts (and all the possible responses for
inter-dependent parts, if need be) just by a click of a button?

Please list any potential solutions/suggestions as comments in reply to this report.
Bug #4917 (New): Parsed multi-part questions aren't saved/retrieved correctlyhttps://projects.ecoinformatics.org/ecoinfo/issues/49172010-03-31T02:07:23ZSandeep Namilikondasandeep.namilikonda@gmail.com

When the parser detects a multi-part question (or the user creates one),
it is saved without any errors popping up. But, when the assessment is re-opened
the multi-part is retrieved as separate single-part questions and the question text
was missing.
Bug #4725 (New): Out of order question numbers can cause faulty question recognitionhttps://projects.ecoinformatics.org/ecoinfo/issues/47252010-02-02T21:56:52ZSandeep Namilikondasandeep.namilikonda@gmail.com

Exams with question numbers that are out of order (which may be caused due to
instructor adding or deleting questions from the original (word) document) can
make the parser merge multiple questions into one question.

We know that this behavior is a direct consequence of the pre-condition for our
question recognition algorithm to work!

Probably, in the next version, a more robust algorithm could be employed to
handle cases like the one above.
Bug #4146 (New): Allow for multiple responses (check all that apply) for MultipleChoiceResponseItemhttps://projects.ecoinformatics.org/ecoinfo/issues/41462009-06-11T15:26:05ZRyan McFallmcfall@hope.edu

In MultipleChoiceResponseItem.generateXML, there is a possibility of allowing multiple responses. However, the code below doesn't make a lot of sense:

if(multipleResponses){
xml.append("<response_lid ident = \"Q"+id+"\" rcardinality = \"Multiple\" rtiming = \"No\">\n");
xml.append("<render_choice shuffle = \"Yes\" minnumber = \"1\" maxnumber = \"4\">\n");
}

In particular, the maxnumber attribute is just an arbitrary number, and so there needs to be a way for the user to specify this.
Bug #4058 (New): Question 46 on Fall05-Exam3.pdf causes error in recognitionhttps://projects.ecoinformatics.org/ecoinfo/issues/40582009-05-11T14:35:45ZRyan McFallmcfall@hope.edu

(This is a resubmission of a bug lost due to fire. The old bug number was 4057; that number seems to have taken by a newer bug submitted after the restore. We talked about this bug during the videoconference on 2009-05-06).

Question 46 on the exam private/samples/Fall05-Exam3.pdf is not recognized
correctly. This question contains some text, followed by a line of text on
it's own line that represents a string of DNA, and then contains several
choices which are all numbers.

Not all of the prompt is put into the question text, and the last choice (E)
also contains the question text for the next question.

Sandeep, can you investigate this and make a report back as to why this is
occurring?
Bug #3974 (New): Saved parsed items do not show up in the Assessment Importer (in DataPackage wiz...https://projects.ecoinformatics.org/ecoinfo/issues/39742009-04-13T02:16:18ZJay Leeleejon20@msu.edu

for Exam1 from Fall 2004, it does not show the parsed items after finshed the parsing. i parsed the exam 1 from 2004 without any problem. however, When I chose the menu " Save and Close", it does not save the parsed items. it does not close the parsing window.
Bug #3971 (New): The original PDF document does not open when you reopen parsed items under Data ...https://projects.ecoinformatics.org/ecoinfo/issues/39712009-04-10T17:35:49ZJay Leeleejon20@msu.edu

After completed the parsing and saved it to local, if i open data package again and open the assessment items, which is menu under documetation, the original documetation does not show up. is it natural or something that we need to fix it?
Bug #3924 (New): Searching for choices in multiple choice question can cross question boundarieshttps://projects.ecoinformatics.org/ecoinfo/issues/39242009-03-31T20:09:11ZRyan McFallmcfall@hope.edu

In doc10.pdf, if the user selects the labels for question 28 as part of user-specified images, then it seems like the MultipleChoice question type is searching for options, and doesn't stop searching until it finds some. In this particular case, this causes it to go past the boundary for question 28 and into question 29.

It seems like it would be best to stop when it sees the next question number in sequence and give up looking for choices, rather than compounding the error by combining two questions incorrectly.
Bug #3880 (New): Handle exceptions when parser is runninghttps://projects.ecoinformatics.org/ecoinfo/issues/38802009-03-10T21:17:58ZRyan McFallmcfall@hope.edu

When the parser throws a runtime exception during parsing, the whole process basically comes to a halt and nothing happens. We need to catch these exceptions in the extract/parse process and at least give the user as many questions as possible. We'll also need to keep a list of the questions that errors are thrown on and use this list to give feedback to the user indicating where things might have gone wrong.
Bug #3867 (New): adding question numberhttps://projects.ecoinformatics.org/ecoinfo/issues/38672009-03-08T20:55:52ZJay Leeleejon20@msu.edu

when we add question, is there any way we can assign the question number?
Bug #3866 (In Progress): Undo does not work on question type change actionhttps://projects.ecoinformatics.org/ecoinfo/issues/38662009-03-08T20:53:43ZJay Leeleejon20@msu.edu

when undo button is clicked, it's not actually doing the right job. it does not go back to previous stage but some point, and it messed up somehow.
Bug #3748 (New): Undo doesn't work for image manipulation + other contextshttps://projects.ecoinformatics.org/ecoinfo/issues/37482009-01-13T21:58:17ZRyan McFallmcfall@hope.edu

Dragging an image onto a question doesn't seem to work in terms of undo. The buttons become active, but they don't actually do anything.
Bug #3716 (In Progress): Selected rectangle can have its origin moved above the top of the documenthttps://projects.ecoinformatics.org/ecoinfo/issues/37162008-12-29T12:20:48ZRyan McFallmcfall@hope.edu

When moving a selected rectangle, the top of the rectangle is allowed to be moved so that it has a negative coordinate. This should be disallowed.

It's likely that the same problem exists when the rectangle is moved left and right.
Bug #3664 (New): Allow exception pages for header/footer selectionshttps://projects.ecoinformatics.org/ecoinfo/issues/36642008-11-13T12:06:02ZRyan McFallmcfall@hope.edu

When the user deletes a selection of type header/footer, we should ask them whether they want to delete it on all pages, or just on that page.

This means we'll need to store an exception list, or to convert the header footer selection into individual selections. The second is probably easier to write, but potentially more annoying to the user if they subsequently want to delete all of the headers/footers.
Bug #3661 (New): Add ability to show bounding boxes around vector imageshttps://projects.ecoinformatics.org/ecoinfo/issues/36612008-11-13T11:54:15ZRyan McFallmcfall@hope.edu

At this stage we won't attempt to auto-combine them, but we should at least be able to show where the vector images are so that users know what they are looking for.
