This bug contains all related topics from the 1/28/2009 meeting with Forbes, Bob, Caroline, and Michael.
Bug #3740 (New): Add databased collection records from GBIF, US, NY, MO, etchttps://projects.ecoinformatics.org/ecoinfo/issues/37402009-01-12T16:48:56ZRobert Peetpeet@unc.edu

Collection records from US, NY and MO are available for request or for download. Other museum records can also be discovered and potentially added, perhaps through exploration of GBIF. We should try to capture all these records and see to what extent they expand on our information base.
Bug #3681 (New): Add 'Original Label Taxon' field to the specimen recordhttps://projects.ecoinformatics.org/ecoinfo/issues/36812008-11-19T22:03:14ZRobert Peetpeet@unc.edu

When I look at a specimen on the SE Atlas such as NCU-75254 and it gives
the name as Magnolia virginiana, that is simply how we track the current best name. Then there are two determiniations (Meyer 1990 and Tober 1992), and they are shown in full. The collector was Ashe in 1897 and he probably did assign a name and it is not shown. Specify stores this as 'original label taxon' and we need to add that field to the other fields shown in the label display, perhaps immediately below collectors.
Bug #3617 (New): Add directions for citation to homepagehttps://projects.ecoinformatics.org/ecoinfo/issues/36172008-11-10T17:33:41ZRobert Peetpeet@unc.edu

Liu, X, R.K. Peet and A.S. Weakley. Atlas of the Flora of the Southeastern United States. Observed [Month, Day, Year].
Bug #3006 (New): Add LSID+GUID to data rowshttps://projects.ecoinformatics.org/ecoinfo/issues/30062007-11-16T19:04:43ZMichael Leemlee@nceas.ucsb.edu

The best way of tracking duplicates is unfortunately not our current system, but rather a GUID that is an LSID that has a GUID in it:
format: urn:lsid:cvs.bio.unc.edu:[tableName]:PK-[GUID]
length should be at least 150, probably go to full 255.

This would have to be override-able as sometimes newly created entities should map onto existing ones. This would enable each client entry tool to create unique IDs for data- without the need to update each client after adding to archive db.

This is far better than our current PK+bln_new flag. It would be a new series of fields (or one table?) that would create GUIDs and assign them to entities.
Bug #2947 (New): Add UNCC datahttps://projects.ecoinformatics.org/ecoinfo/issues/29472007-09-08T21:26:32ZRobert Peetpeet@unc.edu

We need to add the UNCC collection records to the database. We will do this first with static records, but might migrate to dynamics records in Specify. In theory data are being prepared at Appl State by Zach and his student Derick Poindexter. They should have been finished over 6 months ago. We may need to capture these data and do the work outselves. It should be relatively easy.
Bug #2944 (New): Allow multiple concept sources in CVS datahttps://projects.ecoinformatics.org/ecoinfo/issues/29442007-09-08T21:13:12ZRobert Peetpeet@unc.edu

We currently assign all CVS data to Weakley concepts. We will shortly revise the CVS list and replace the records in the database with new ones. Most will still be to Weakley concepts, but some will be to other concepts (primarily RAB). We need to be sure the database system can handle this. Please report what can now be done and what options might be available.
Bug #2924 (New): Add "use defaults on this plot" for parties and place namehttps://projects.ecoinformatics.org/ecoinfo/issues/29242007-09-01T19:11:58ZMichael Leemlee@nceas.ucsb.edu

There is an option to use default for parties and place names, but a message appears saying you can't do that yet.
Bug #2904 (New): Allow editing of default stratum method and cover methodhttps://projects.ecoinformatics.org/ecoinfo/issues/29042007-08-10T23:13:48ZMichael Leemlee@nceas.ucsb.edu

These values are currently stored in X_otherOptions as names "stratumMethodAccessionCode" and "coverMethodAccessionCode". The accession codes could be changed to switch to a different method. But each would require types/indexes that have only a single character for the cover forms to work properly, and the default strata.
Bug #2760 (New): add Quick fix for common errorshttps://projects.ecoinformatics.org/ecoinfo/issues/27602007-02-05T23:50:35ZMichael Leemlee@nceas.ucsb.edu

need a quick fix for longitude is positive
also for filling in default of 10cm for minimum stem size.
Bug #2698 (New): Add traits tabhttps://projects.ecoinformatics.org/ecoinfo/issues/26982006-12-13T21:59:04ZRobert Peetpeet@unc.edu

We should add a new tab to the dataset for "Traits". This tab should draw from a file that has the following structure:

Weakley concept
Trait name
Trait value
Source

There needs to be a constrained list of accepted traits that forms the basis for ordering the list. Initially, let's use the following: Raunkaier lifeform, Peet Growthform1, Peet Growthform2, Lifespan, Nutrition. I can provide a dataset for this as soon as I get back to NC.

We should also export trait data.
Bug #2663 (New): 2 errs left: + duplicates flagged: Project 73 (Mountain Bogs): 64 plotshttps://projects.ecoinformatics.org/ecoinfo/issues/26632006-11-13T17:46:29ZMichael Leemlee@nceas.ucsb.edu

this data needs to be processed and added to the (v2006) central archive
Bug #2626 (New): 45. Negative occurrenceshttps://projects.ecoinformatics.org/ecoinfo/issues/26262006-10-27T23:03:49ZMichael Leemlee@nceas.ucsb.edu

We need a new color on the map and a way to database negative occurrences. Some records in sources like Weakley and USDA we know to be wrong, yet to be true to our sources we cannot just delete these from the database. Therefore we need to be able to add a layer and color to the maps for records someone of authority has said are incorrect. As an example, we know that USDA has county records of Sporobolus teretifolius in counties that the taxon does not occur because they got records from Kartesz who got the records from RAB who lumped the USDA taxa of S. teretifolius and S. pinetorum and S. floridana and S. curtissii. I want to be able to add a color that suiperceeds Green and Blue that will effectively show that despite records to the contrary, this taxon does not occur in the county of interest.
Bug #2621 (New): 40. Concepts for CVS data?https://projects.ecoinformatics.org/ecoinfo/issues/26212006-10-27T23:01:51ZMichael Leemlee@nceas.ucsb.edu

Add support of concepts to CVS data. In short, migrate from all CVS being Weakley concepts to explicit statement of concept where the concept can be any one in the formal list of accepted concepts. This might best be done by adding one column that corresponds to ConceptSource and which must [business rule] be a source mapped to Weakley in the relationships table. We will start by assuming that all current CVS concepts are Weakley concepts, but this will change soon.
