Redmine Bug #3256 (Resolved): path problems on Mac with CommandLine demo workflowshttps://projects.ecoinformatics.org/ecoinfo/issues/32562008-04-30T17:52:49ZDan Higginshiggins@nceas.ucsb.edu

On 1.0 release installer check, the CommandLine_1 and CommandLine_2 demo workflows (in demos/getting-started dir) fail with a path problem on the Mac.

This is apparently due to moving the demos directory.
Bug #3169 (Resolved): Cannot add documentation to a new actor from within Keplerhttps://projects.ecoinformatics.org/ecoinfo/issues/31692008-02-29T19:40:04ZDan Higginshiggins@nceas.ucsb.edu

If one instantiates a new actor, it can be added to the library or saved as a KAR, but there is no way to add documentation from within Kepler!

If there is no current documentation, the Documentation/Customize menu item does nothing. So there is no way to add documentation other than adding it directly to the actor moml.

Dan HIggins - 29 Feb 2008
Bug #3167 (Resolved): Customize documentation fails when ports addedhttps://projects.ecoinformatics.org/ecoinfo/issues/31672008-02-29T18:40:03ZDan Higginshiggins@nceas.ucsb.edu

New customized documentation dialog has a 'null' error when ports have been added.

To see the error, customize an RExpression actor by adding 2 new input ports. Then right click to Documentation/Customize and add some text describing the new ports. When the dialog is closed a null error occurs. If no new ports are added, customized documentation seems to work OK.

Dan Higgins - 29 Feb 2008
Bug #3154 (Resolved): Documentation missing for DarwinCoreDataSourcehttps://projects.ecoinformatics.org/ecoinfo/issues/31542008-02-21T19:47:38ZDan Higginshiggins@nceas.ucsb.edu

When a DarwinCoreDataSource is dragged to the work area from the actor list, there is no documentation available. The same problem occurs when the actor is the result of a search.
Bug #3153 (Resolved): Preview problems with EML DataSource (for IPCC data)https://projects.ecoinformatics.org/ecoinfo/issues/31532008-02-19T19:44:00ZDan Higginshiggins@nceas.ucsb.edu

As of RC1, there is a 'Preview' menu item on the popup menu for EML DataSource actors. If one tries to preview the data for results of an 'IPCC' search, several problem appear.

For small data sets (like predictions for future climate variables where data may have 96 columns and 48 rows), initial header lines are apparently truncated in the preview display. Since a primary reason for the preview is to help understand the data, the header lines should not be removed in the display

With larger IPCC datasets (e.g. historical data with 720 x 360 data arrays), clicking on the preview menu seems to hang Kepler (at least for several minutes) I had to kill Kepler to continue.

Dan Higgins - Feb 19, 2008
Bug #3150 (Resolved): Need to add PTII Python actors back into Keplerhttps://projects.ecoinformatics.org/ecoinfo/issues/31502008-02-14T19:39:17ZDan Higginshiggins@nceas.ucsb.edu

Ptolemy has 2 different actors that allow one to use Python scripts. These were removed from Kepler when all the actors were instantiated at startup because they greatlyt slowed down startup (by scanning all the jar files).

Several Kepler users have asked about using Python scripts in Kepler. Now that all actors are not instantiated at startup, the Python actors can be put back into Kepler, giving an additional scripting capability.

Dan Higgins - Feb 2008
Bug #3119 (Resolved): Need Installer shortcuts for Windowshttps://projects.ecoinformatics.org/ecoinfo/issues/31192008-02-01T18:58:42ZDan Higginshiggins@nceas.ucsb.edu

Shortcuts for the IzPack installer system have not yet been implemented, although it is possible to create such shortcuts for Windows (and Linux).

Such shortcuts need to be implemented.
Bug #3115 (Resolved): Need to check Kepler for memory leakshttps://projects.ecoinformatics.org/ecoinfo/issues/31152008-01-31T21:04:53ZDan Higginshiggins@nceas.ucsb.edu

Need to do some testing to see if Kepler memory leaks occur (i.e. does memory use increase even when workflows closed).

This was investigated 6 months (or more) ago, but has not been checked recently.,
Bug #3027 (Resolved): jar handling issueshttps://projects.ecoinformatics.org/ecoinfo/issues/30272007-12-13T21:24:04ZDan Higginshiggins@nceas.ucsb.edu

We still need to treat all 'legacy' actor jars - i.e. figure out which jars go
with which actors and are any shared. And figure out how to handle jar version issues.

This bug is derived from #2316 - now closed
Bug #2933 (Resolved): Query Builder comparisons for strings, dates do not workhttps://projects.ecoinformatics.org/ecoinfo/issues/29332007-09-04T18:53:46ZDan Higginshiggins@nceas.ucsb.edu

Attempt to filter data sets using QueryBuilder apparently do not work for strings (or date?). Note that date in Datos dataset appears as a String. Is there a Date object? Numerical comparison filter apparently DO work
Bug #2493 (Resolved): actor repository tracking bughttps://projects.ecoinformatics.org/ecoinfo/issues/24932006-07-18T21:42:18ZDan Higginshiggins@nceas.ucsb.edu

The Kepler repository at http://library.kepler-project.org/ currently has 52 components in it, but (nearly?) all are just copies of actors already built into Kepler. If downloaded and imported (using the menu item 'File/Import Archive (KAR)', one gets an error because the LSID is already in use (because the actor is already in Kepler). We need to remove any actors that are just duplicates.

Also, all files (KARs) downloaded from the repository seemed to be named just 'data' on download (at least on a Windows box). Download name should be more meaningful and should end with '.kar' since that is the file extention that Kepler is looking for to import the file.
Bug #2412 (Resolved): Unable to Create Kar file from compositehttps://projects.ecoinformatics.org/ecoinfo/issues/24122006-04-12T20:48:52ZDan Higginshiggins@nceas.ucsb.edu

A number of problem occur when trying to create a kar file from an existing composite actor in a workflow.

1) If you select a composite and then execute the 'Create Kar from Actor...' menu, the first message says "You cannot create a kar file from an instantiated component. Youmust first make it a class...". Why can't this be done automatically?

2)If you then try the 'Convert to Class' menu item, you get the error
Cannot convert an entity to a class definition while it contains ports with links.' Apparently this means that you must disconnect the links. Again this is a lot of work for the user!

3)After disconnecting the links, a Class actor will appear and if you then 'Create Kar from Actor...' the proper dialog will appear. However, get 'Error Building the KAR file: Cannot create transport KAR: null'
Bug #2016 (Resolved): MENUS: pop-up context menu revisionhttps://projects.ecoinformatics.org/ecoinfo/issues/20162005-03-11T19:03:16ZDan Higginshiggins@nceas.ucsb.edu

Suggested by Laura Downey
This includes both top level and popup menus. Menu labels may need to be changed
to more obvious terms and certain menu items removed or organized into
hierarchies. example: 'Create hierarchy' shold perhaps be called 'Create Composite'?
Bug #1836 (Resolved): data search and access problems via ecogridhttps://projects.ecoinformatics.org/ecoinfo/issues/18362004-12-16T15:45:03ZDan Higginshiggins@nceas.ucsb.edu

In the recent BEAM ENM meeting, ~20 people were searching kepler/ecogrid for a
datafile (on metacat). It worked OK for some, but seemed to take a long time.
For others, nothing was returned (time out?); others got different numbers of
hits returned! (The difference appeared to be hits from DIGIR appeared for some
and didn't for others.)

Overall, performance was extremely varied and generally poor. (Maybe because
there were a lot of people hitting DIGIR and Metacat at the same time.)
Bug #1557 (Resolved): problems with paths with 'spaces'https://projects.ecoinformatics.org/ecoinfo/issues/15572004-05-06T19:43:29ZDan Higginshiggins@nceas.ucsb.edu

There are sometimes problems when the kepler directory is in a path that has
'spaces' like "Program Files". Should figure out the cause and fix
