Redmine Bug #119 (Resolved): need logout and re-login capabilityhttps://projects.ecoinformatics.org/ecoinfo/issues/1192000-09-20T18:15:26ZMatt Jonesjones@nceas.ucsb.edu

need feature that allows a user to logout of dmanclient and to login again as a
different user.
Bug #118 (Resolved): splash screen updateshttps://projects.ecoinformatics.org/ecoinfo/issues/1182000-09-20T18:13:30ZMatt Jonesjones@nceas.ucsb.edu

Need to update splash screen with new logo, new name, and a "crisper"
appearance. Possibly make the splasj screen into the "login/logout" screen.
Bug #91 (Resolved): need to synchronize accession# assignment & meta_file_id fieldhttps://projects.ecoinformatics.org/ecoinfo/issues/912000-08-21T04:09:09ZMatt Jonesjones@nceas.ucsb.edu

When a metadata file is uploaded to the network (using INSERT), it is assigned a
new accession number if the provided accession number is null or already used.
Need to add facility to dmanclient for managing local cache of ID numbers
(borrow code from xmltodb), assigning those accession numbers to metadata
documents, uploading the document to the network using a unique id number, and
syncing the accession number with the meta_file_id field in the documents. If a
new accession number is returned (ie, the proped id wasn't usingue), an update
should automatically be performed to sync the meta_file_id. Also, if data is
uploaded simultaneously, need a mechanism to sync the data accession number with
content of the metadata documents.
Bug #89 (Resolved): login box should close automatically on successhttps://projects.ecoinformatics.org/ecoinfo/issues/892000-08-21T04:00:20ZMatt Jonesjones@nceas.ucsb.edu

The use rlogin box currently uses a "Continue" button to dismiss it. Instead,
it should automatically close upon login success, and, on failure, not close but
pop up a dialog box indicating failure message.
Bug #86 (Resolved): author only search fails to return proper resultsethttps://projects.ecoinformatics.org/ecoinfo/issues/862000-08-21T03:38:20ZMatt Jonesjones@nceas.ucsb.edu

Filling in a last name in the "Author" field of a Thematic querybean search does
not return the correct resultset (at least from the network document
collection). This happened with no value in the Subject field, and the title,
abstract, and keywords fields unchecked. Need to investigate and fix.
Bug #82 (Resolved): change behavior of single-click in querybean results tablehttps://projects.ecoinformatics.org/ecoinfo/issues/822000-08-21T03:26:27ZMatt Jonesjones@nceas.ucsb.edu

The querybean results table currently listens for list selection events, and
when a record is selected, the document is downloaded and opened in a window.
Need to change this behavior so that single clicks only select a record, and a
double click would download and display a metadata document. This allows other
actions (like "edit") to be associated with the querybean resultset records, for
example using a popup menu (right click on PC, click and hold on Macs).
Bug #81 (Resolved): need ability to "round-trip" metadata (mde -> server -> querybean -> mde)https://projects.ecoinformatics.org/ecoinfo/issues/812000-08-21T03:23:08ZMatt Jonesjones@nceas.ucsb.edu

Currently, there is no way to totally manage server-based metadata from the
client because one cannot easily transfer metadata documents among the modules
of dmanclient. Need to make it so that mde can seamlessly upload metadata to
the server (done, needs UI improvements), then when the querybean finds one of
those documents in a search, the user can right click on the record and choose
"Edit" from a popup menu to open the metadata document in mde. This reuires
that a single-click on the resultset record only selects the record, so that the
user can right click to get the popup menu. Consider making a standard
interface among the modules for transferring a metadata document from one module
to another.
Bug #80 (Resolved): disable content edit frame in mdehttps://projects.ecoinformatics.org/ecoinfo/issues/802000-08-21T03:17:22ZMatt Jonesjones@nceas.ucsb.edu

The current attempt at form-based editing in mde (ContentEditFrame) is broken
and should be eliminated from the UI until it is fixed. When it is working, we
should eliminate the text input dialog box, as it would be confusing to have
both mechanisms for changing field contents.
Bug #77 (Resolved): "document type" search should be changedhttps://projects.ecoinformatics.org/ecoinfo/issues/772000-08-21T03:10:02ZMatt Jonesjones@nceas.ucsb.edu

The current "Document Type" search in querybean is structured in a way that most
ecologists will not use frequently. This search should be changed to be an
"Advanced" search that allows construction of boolean searches on fields from
arbitrary document types and that can be nested in arbitrarily complex ways.
The user interface would therefore eliminate the "Document type" list, and each
term of the search expression would need a new UI widget that allows the user to
choose which fields to search (from the various doctypes present in the
catalog). This new "advanced" tab should only show up in the UI when an "Expert
mode" checkbox (in the toolbar) is checked, to try and simplify the UI as much
as possible (anyone savvy enough to construct a complex boolean search can also
figure out how to turn on the feature, and it will only confuse most users).
The advanced search capability should be last in the query tabs. Other search
tabs should be evaluated and possibly moved into this expert category. The
setting of the "Expert mode" checkbox should be persistent between sessions.
Bug #75 (Resolved): need "search network" checkboxhttps://projects.ecoinformatics.org/ecoinfo/issues/752000-08-21T02:59:26ZMatt Jonesjones@nceas.ucsb.edu

Currently, the querybean client has a "Local only?" checkbox allowing the user
to specify that only local queries are desired. This should be changed to
"Search local", and another checkbox marked "Search network" added so that the
user can precisely specify which collections to search. Both checkboxes should
be on by default, and the checkbox state should be persistent across sessions.
Bug #74 (Resolved): Need to relabel dmanclient UI tabshttps://projects.ecoinformatics.org/ecoinfo/issues/742000-08-21T02:56:32ZMatt Jonesjones@nceas.ucsb.edu

Elements of the dmanclient user interface need to be relabeled in a
user-friendly manner. For example, the term "metadata" is generally not known
by ecological scientitists, so "docuemntation" or "data documentation" would be
a better term. For example, the main application tabs in the query client could
be changed to "Data Documentation", "Search", and "Browse". These labels aren't
ideal either. We should have a ocnversation about the ultimate labels used in
the application, and get scientist feedback about them.
Bug #70 (Resolved): mde fails to open documents if tmp directory is missinghttps://projects.ecoinformatics.org/ecoinfo/issues/702000-08-19T00:52:21ZMatt Jonesjones@nceas.ucsb.edu

mde uses a temporary directory for storing copies of files when opening
documents. If the directory is missing, file->open fails every time. Need to
add code to mde to check for existence of tmp directory and create it if it is
missing. The location of this tmp directory should also be configurable in case
$mdehome is not writable.
Bug #67 (Resolved): Need "not implemented yet" indicationhttps://projects.ecoinformatics.org/ecoinfo/issues/672000-08-19T00:45:10ZMatt Jonesjones@nceas.ucsb.edu

All parts of dmanclient that represent features that are not yet implemented
need some text or other indication that indicates this. Just getting a "grey"
panel is not sufficient for demo purposes. This would include the various
queries that are not implemented (taxonomic, etc.) and the "Data Viewer" tab.
Bug #66 (Resolved): Need a progress bar on querieshttps://projects.ecoinformatics.org/ecoinfo/issues/662000-08-19T00:42:54ZMatt Jonesjones@nceas.ucsb.edu

The queryBean interface needs a UI widget to indicate that a query is still
happening. I't could be of the "indeterminate" type like the mozilla progress
meter, or 'determinate' if an estimate of total time for the query can be made.
Bug #65 (Resolved): toolbar "Save" and File->save are differenthttps://projects.ecoinformatics.org/ecoinfo/issues/652000-08-19T00:41:16ZMatt Jonesjones@nceas.ucsb.edu

Clicking on the toolbar "Save" icon, and clicking on the file menu "Save' item
brings up different dialog boxes that seem to elicit different behaviors fromthe
application.
