Redmine Bug #5779 (In Progress): Owners list reorders its entrieshttps://projects.ecoinformatics.org/ecoinfo/issues/57792013-01-14T23:28:04Zben leinfelderleinfelder@nceas.ucsb.edu

When 4 or more parties are listed in the Owners wizard page, they reorder themselves when you click 'Ok'.
It seems to cycle through putting the last entry first, each time you open then dismiss the window with an Ok.
Bug #1983 (New): allow morpho to detect online data and import ithttps://projects.ecoinformatics.org/ecoinfo/issues/19832005-02-18T01:42:19ZMatt Jonesjones@nceas.ucsb.edu

In several situations (such as Bug# 1982) an EML description might have a URL
pointing at an actual data file that is referenced in the top level EML
distribution section. When this occurs, Morpho should be able to import the
data from the URL, asking for the entity and attribute metadata, and move the
distribution reference to the entity distribution section.

If the data are stored in Metacat, then they need not be uploaded again, but
rather a simple reference to the Metacat id needs to be made to associate the
new metadata with the existing data.

If the data are at some other online URL, the data may need to be stored in
metacat (but only after the user has confirmed the operation).
Bug #1832 (In Progress): need "save as" functionality in morphohttps://projects.ecoinformatics.org/ecoinfo/issues/18322004-12-15T18:22:44ZChad Berkleyberkley@nceas.ucsb.edu

users have requested a "save as" function in morpho so they can just change
small numbers of metadata fields for entering similar datasets. I think the
code already exists to do this because morpho will reassign package id's if it
finds a conflict. we just need to make this functionality accessible via a menu.
Bug #1823 (New): Morpho Editor and saving network data packageshttps://projects.ecoinformatics.org/ecoinfo/issues/18232004-12-10T22:01:14ZVeronique Connollyconnolly@nceas.ucsb.edu

When a network data package is opened, and you open the Morpho Editor, and then
click OK (without even making any modification), sometimes you get an error
message (see below), sometimes you don’t.

“The saved document is not a valid EML2 for some reason. You can save it
locally and fix the problem later, but you will be unable to submit it to the
network storage system. Do you want to Continue Exiting the Editor?”)

Different things will happen when you try saving the package either locally or
on the network, depending on whether you got the error message in the Editor or not.

I tested a few datasets from the network and here are the two different chains
of events that happened:

1) For datasets nrs.301.1, nrs.300.1, obfs.149.1, and nceas.19.11:
a) Go to editor and click OK: no message.
b) Click on the save button: the Save Locally box is checked and the Save to
Network box is empty but can be checked (before I opened the Editor, if I tried
saving, the Save to Network option was not available). Different things happen
depending on what boxes you check:
- if both boxes are checked, no icons appear in the grey right corner of the
dp, and the dp doesn’t get saved either locally nor on the network (see comment
#2 of bug #1569).
- if only the Save to Network box is checked, the dp doesn’t get saved, which in
theory is what we want to happen, but we don’t get an error message saying that
it can’t be saved.
- if only the Save Locally button is checked, the local icon appears and the dp
is saved locally.
c) After saving the dp locally, if you try synchronizing it, an error message
appears:
“A conflict has been found in one or more of the identifiers in your package.
It is possible that you or someone else has made a change on the server that has
not been reflected on your local copy. If you proceed the identifier for this
package will be changed. Are you sure you want to proceed with the upload?”

If you click Yes, the dp’s docid is changed and the dp is saved both locally and
on the network. Saving to the network SHOULD NOT be allowed.

2) For datasets ces_dataset.160.1, .114.1, .115.1, .116.1, .117.1, and nrs.10.3,
.12.3, .114.3, .128.5
a) Go to editor and click OK: you get an error message (see first part of this
bug report). Click Yes to message.
b) When you try saving the same things happen as in 1b (see above), except for
the local save: after you click Yes for a Local save, the DP closes.
c) When you reopen the locally saved DP and try synchronizing it, the same
message as in 1c (above) appears, but when you click Yes, you get another error
message (see below) and Morpho freezes (the butterfly flaps its wings forever; I
waited several minutes and shut down from the Task Manager).

<error>
cvc-complex-type.2.4.b: The content of element ‘description” is not complete.
One of “{“”:section, “”:para}’ is expected.

Sorry for the long explanation. I am aware that there might be more than one
problem involved and I don’t know if there is any connection between the Editor
and saving a package, but I thought it would be best to describe the series of
events in one bug report rather than break it up into several reports.
Bug #1807 (New): Stop/pause search feature requesthttps://projects.ecoinformatics.org/ecoinfo/issues/18072004-12-03T20:59:19ZAndrea Andreachadden@nceas.ucsb.edu

Users must wait for a search to be fully completed before being able to open a
data package. This can take a long time, depending on the search parameters. It
can be frustrating to have to wait for the search to be completed when the dp
you want to open is already listed in the search results. It would be great to
have a "Stop Search" feature, much like that provided when searching for an
email in Outlook, or for a file on a computer.
Bug #1702 (New): spatial search is not savedhttps://projects.ecoinformatics.org/ecoinfo/issues/17022004-09-28T23:47:07ZChad Berkleyberkley@nceas.ucsb.edu

when you revise a search that you have just performed, the spatial bounding box
is reset to the default instead of being left in the state that you left it.
When opening a saved search or revising an existing search, the bounding box
should retain its position.
Bug #1667 (New): Couldn't send data file to metacat using a download packagehttps://projects.ecoinformatics.org/ecoinfo/issues/16672004-09-02T01:26:33ZJing Taotao@nceas.ucsb.edu

When I use morpho to copy a eml2 package from metacat1 to metacat2 and found
this problem.

I have a eml2 document - jones.1.3 which has a online data jones.2.1(use ecogrid
protocol). I want copy it from metacat1 to metact2(both eml document and data
file). First, I used morpho to point to metacat1 and used synchronize function
to download it. I got both jones.1.3 (eml document) and jones.2.1(data file).

Then I changed morpho to point metacat2. No matter I used save or synchronize
function, I only can upload jones.1.3(eml document) to metacat2. But I couldn't
upload jones.2.1 even it use ecogrid protocol in url.

If we can both upload eml doucment and data file(use ecogrid protocol) to
metacat, it will be better.
Bug #1582 (New): No Error Msg displayed when network update of datapackage failed due to access c...https://projects.ecoinformatics.org/ecoinfo/issues/15822004-05-27T21:00:01ZSaurabh Gargsgarg@nceas.ucsb.edu

Reported by Andrea:

A data package with data table was opened using Morpho. (bowles.436.5)
This was done after doing login in Morpho using Andrea's ID. The document has
read access for public and all for uid=bowles,o=nceas only.

Then the data table is deleted and the document is saved locally and over the
network. No new screen is opened. So user still sees bowles.436.5 instead of
bowles.436.6

There was a 436.6 in the data directory on the local file system. But the
metacat server still had 436.5

So Metacat didn't allow update of document due to access control. But no error
message was displayed to the user. Another issue is when network update fails,
should the local copy which was created successfully should be kept or deleted.
If it is kept, then shouldn't the DP display window update to show the new
version of the document? i.e. 436.6 instead of 436.5
Bug #1569 (New): Local save doesnt work sometimes.https://projects.ecoinformatics.org/ecoinfo/issues/15692004-05-17T23:06:30ZSaurabh Gargsgarg@nceas.ucsb.edu

This was reported by Nicole Kaplan <nicole.kaplan@colostate.edu>

Nicole's comments:
The "local" save for data packages does not always work and unless you
also saved to network too, your changes are lost. It is unclear what causes
this, but if it doesn't save it the first time locally, it never is able it
save it on subsequent edits.

My Comments:
If this is happening then it might be a bug. Though, I am not able to reproduce
it.
Maybe the document is just not showing up in the open/search box for some
reason. How do you figure out that the document has been saved locally. Is an
ID specified on top of the window that opens up after you save a datapackage?

Also it might be because of some kind of text that you are trying to enter that
is messing up the save - like pasting the text from Microsoft files.
Bug #1568 (New): Certain dialogues in DPW lock up the helphttps://projects.ecoinformatics.org/ecoinfo/issues/15682004-05-17T22:44:10ZSaurabh Gargsgarg@nceas.ucsb.edu

This was reported by Nicole Kaplan <nicole.kaplan@colostate.edu>

These dialogues are the child windows of DPW which are called from buttons like
Add, Edit etc. Help window should probably be made independent of all the other
windows in Morpho.
Bug #1559 (New): Morpho 1.5.1 Help: 5 problems with search featurehttps://projects.ecoinformatics.org/ecoinfo/issues/15592004-05-12T19:52:50ZAndrea Andreachadden@nceas.ucsb.edu

1. When I do a search for “User Guide” using the Search feature within Morpho
help, pages from the old version of the user guide come up in the search
results (i.e. older files in CVS that have been updated). Only the most
current pages of the user guide should show up in the search.

2. When searching in Morpho Help, a few things are unclear about the search
results. It is unclear what the numbering in the search results is for (there
is a 10, 3, 2, 5, 1 to the left of the search results). Also, there’s no
explanation of the red ball symbology that appears to the left of the search
results.

3. In the search feature within Morpho Help, when I type in “user guide” (or
user+guide), results appear that highlight only the word “user”, when I only
want pages where the entire phrase “user guide” appears.

4. In the search feature within Morpho Help, almost all of the names of the
results are non-descript, and simply called “Knowledge Network for
Biocomplexity”. When there are 15 results with the same name it is frustrating
to have to click on each one until you find what you want, therefore the names
of the search results should be more descriptive.

5. In Morpho Help, after searching for a word or phrase (like “user guide”),
the words remain highlighted on certain page(s) in the user guide (long after
the search took place). There is no evident way (such as clicking on the
highlighted area) to deselect the phrase or word on a page.
Bug #1426 (In Progress): closing unsaved package does not close packagehttps://projects.ecoinformatics.org/ecoinfo/issues/14262004-03-30T22:19:51ZChad Berkleyberkley@nceas.ucsb.edu

if you have an unsaved package open and you close the window, morpho asks you
if you'd like to save the package. if you click yes, it saves the package but
forgets that your original request was to close the window and leaves it open.
Bug #1099 (In Progress): REOT feedback: ability to rename exported fileshttps://projects.ecoinformatics.org/ecoinfo/issues/10992003-06-06T22:43:19ZMatthew Brookebrooke@nceas.ucsb.edu

REOT feedback: ability to rename exported files - these are currently auto-
named, and it's not obvious which files are which without opening them and
looking
Bug #1052 (In Progress): Need to automatically extend data table size when pasting datahttps://projects.ecoinformatics.org/ecoinfo/issues/10522003-04-30T16:49:20ZDan Higginshiggins@nceas.ucsb.edu

Currently, when one tries to paste additional data into an existing data table,
the paste action does not automatically add rows to the table; i.e. the paste
stops when the data reaches the last row. Thus additional rows need to added by
hand before a paste operation.

The request here is to automatically add additional rows based on the size of
the additional info being inserted. This would make updates to packages that are
regularly updated easier.
Bug #458 (In Progress): Need to configure Morpho to accept stream-based result setshttps://projects.ecoinformatics.org/ecoinfo/issues/4582002-04-06T05:07:28ZDan Higginshiggins@nceas.ucsb.edu

For performance purposes, Metacat needs to send results in a stream created as
results are generated (rather than getting all the results and then sending
them). [The other option being considered is to send the response in 'chunks' of
a set size.]

Morpho needs to be able ot handle both stream and chunk based responses. It
should create the ResultSet table and add result rows as they arrive from the
server (rather than getting the entire result set and then displaying the whole
table.)
