Bug #4891
closed
[4:42pm] bowers: i'm not super big on using "or" and "and" in search
[4:42pm] bowers: i think it should all be "or" with ranking leaning towards "and"
current scheme for each annotation:
-5 possible search criteria (Entity, Characteristic, Standard, Protocol, Context)
-the annotation "matches" with a weight of 1 if the criteria is met, up to 5 points. A "match" with weight 0 is given when you haven't actually specified a criteria (say you match on Standard, but leave Entity blank, this gives you a net of 1).
-if you don't match, your ranking is reduced (-1). If you match no criteria (-5), that annotation is not shown in the results.
-results are shown sorted by their ranking.
-if no criteria are given, then all annotations are shown
closing this - they are ranked. I'll be sure to keep this feature as the search capabilities are augmented (grouping, any/all, is/is not)
