closedRemove Element button does not work in certain cases

Description
Remove Element button seems to work fine when working with a new xml document,
but DOES NOT function when the XML document being edited has been loaded from a
saved file. Try creating a new document; save that document; and then try to
remove any of the nodes to see the problem

Lowered priority because we might drop MDE and replace it with another editing
solution.
