Bug #2597

Display of cultivated records should be optional
Added by Michael Lee about 18 years ago.
Updated almost 18 years ago.
Description
The distribution maps appear to treat cultivated specimen records the same as non-cultivated
RKP:
That is the current business rule. When we get time our plan is to provide a radial button to exclude from the map all specimens labeled as collected, or to present them in a separate color.

Comments by Bob Peet followed by RKP:
Xianhua reports this as fixed, but I cannot see anything changed (I checked on 152.2.14.231). I checked Carya illinoisensis for Orange County NC. These records are exclusively cultivated specimens, yet they appear on the map and there is no radial button to exclude cultivated specimens. I am not sure what was fixed.
Below the check boxes for sources, draw a line and provide two boxes that allow selection of "Reported as cultivated" and "Not reported as cultivated". The dafault should be to have both clicked.
To fully support this option, we need to allow all records to be tagged as cultivated, not just specimens. For this purpose add to the database of static records a field for cultivated, a field for the person making this determination, and a field for the date of the determination. For the present we will not display the person and date, but will later use this when we develop data edition functionality. I include this as part of the bug because the check on cultivated should be made against both the dynamic specimen database and the static database of other records.
