Bug #2851
openTemplating support for attribute entries
0%
Description
Entering in attributes can be time consuming. One option for improving this is to have templating support. Some tables have the same description for many of their attributes. The ability to duplicate that entry without having to enter it in again would be helpful. Ideally, the attribute name can be maintained and the rest of the attribute information could be duplicated from a choice of one that was previously entered. “There is a lack of templating support for short-cutting the description of virtually identical attribute structures for describing multiple data sets†(Mark S.) We need the ability to automate (template) the input of attribute information within an individual table and from a separate data set.
It gets frustrating entering in the same information over again when you feel a feature should be available to avoid this. I find myself going to XML Spy for this because it allows me to see the attributes in a grid view and cut and past repetitive entries.

Proposed implementation:
"Data->Duplicate Current Table..."
Will add another entity to the data package with all the same metadata as the "current" table. Then you can use the "Data->Replace Current Data..." option to swap out the new data.
