Description

If morpho is pointing to a host which is down (not only tomcat was shut down, but also the machine was shut down), it will take about 2 minutes to startup. I found this bug first in cvs head. Then I double checked the 1.6.1 release and it has same behavior.

We observed similar behavior on two machines this morning while metacat was down. However, rather than starting up after ~2 minutes, morpho failed to progress beyond the splash screen at all until metacat was restarted >10 minutes later.

Observed both with 1.7.0 and a recent dev build (svn r4702).
