There is a new MetacatEventService that allows components (SemtoolsPlugin) to register as a listener for MetacatEvents that occur like 'insert', 'update', and 'delete'.
Annotations are added or removed as appropriate when these actions take place in Metacat. So a save in Morpho to Metacat makes the annotation available for query immediately.
