Metadata view page never loads if given a non-existent PID

Description

If I request a page with a non-existent PID such as 'https://search.dataone.org/#view/asdf' I see the "Loading" spinner show up but no page is loaded and I see the Loading indicator forever. I expected that the page would return some sort of "Dataset not found" page after a second or two.

To reproduce:

- Enter the URL 'https://search.dataone.org/#view/asdf' into your web browser
- Observe the "Loading" progress indicator spinning
- Observe it does this indefinitely

Tested on:

- OS: Mac OS 10.11
- Browsers: Chrome 47, Safari 9.0.1, Firefox 40.0.3
