Bug #869
closed
This is bug refers to fixing any problems with the xml (corresponding to:
VEGBANK_BETA_1_0 in cvs) that mlee has identified.
I think this bug is redundant in the light of bug 870, waiting for aggrement on
this point.
Why bug fix a redundant part of the system?
This bug deals with the old XML, which the system still uses in some places, I
don't know how much of the system uses it. Minimally, the query results pages.
There may be a few bugs here (fields showing up in the wrong places) that could
be fixed. I don't think we should reconstruct or otherwise spend a lot of time
of this. That time should instead be devoted to working on the new xml. But
for now, it would be nice for users to be able to download and view the correct
info.
The only error I know of is dateAccuracy: for example:
http://vegbank.nceas.ucsb.edu/vegbank/servlet/DataRequestServlet?requestDataFormatType=html&clientType=browser&requestDataType=vegPlot&resultType=full&queryType=simple&plotId=145
shows dateAccuracy as:
consolidated Some of the silver sagebrush (Artemisia cana) shrubs in the plot
appear to be stressed. The drainage directly below this plot is dominated by
giant ragweed (Ambrosia trifida).
This is obviously just reporting the wrong field.
As far as new XML goes: has everyone looked at it and decided that they like it?
We should decide that before implementing it... It can be found:
http://tekka.nceas.ucsb.edu/~lee/xml/ then vegbank_exampleXML_schema.zip (date
format will be changed to date/time is the only minor change pending)
Using the new XML so fixed
changed from components that are to be deleted to "misc" so that bugs don't get
deleted with component. Sorry for all the email.
