Description

For the most part, people describe spatial (GIS) data using FGDC instead of EML. However, some level of integration between the 2 schemas will eventually be necessary. A sub-group of eml-dev and interested parties needs to assess the status of spatial data already in EML and consider future directions.

Several bugs have been entered already which begin to address some issues with spatial data in EML, and these have been labeled as "blocked" by this bug since their resolutions will probably be part of a larger effort (bug 2125, bug 3488, bug 3501).
