Description
In contrast to Ptolemy, port names of a composite cannot be renamed from within this composite by editing the properties dialog window.

I think this should be fixed for the 2.0 release. It is awkward not being able to edit port names in place. I suggest we consider having a generally richer context menu for ports inside a composite that allow you conveniently to rename, hide, or change the type of a port.
