There is a default sort of "title description" and then a sort of the Most Recent canned search using "dateUploaded desc".
I can see having a dropdown "Sort by" widget that gives a few options that apply to the current search display.
- title
- origin (e.g., author, creator)
- dateUploaded
- pubDate
- identifier?

There is now a drop down for selecting the sort order of the records - the default is most recent descending. This works great, but gets a little sticky when you use the "Most Recent" popular search link. Generally, sorting works, but I think we need to design a solution for doing compound searches since this is just the tip of the iceberg.
