Description
Many current user interface features are advanced and should by default be
hidden to simplify the user interface. An "Expert mode" toggel icon or checkbox
in the toolbar would provide a quick way to switch between modes. ALL UI
features need to be evaluated for their appropriatenemss in the two modes
(default, expert).

Need to carefully consider what is 'advanced' and what is not. User input
needed?
