Bug #3062
openNeed ASC grid Utilities actor
0%
Description
Currently there are actors (developed for the ENM example) for working with ASC grids. Such spatial grid actors allow rescaling, merging, etc. However, several simple functions, such as simply finding the value at some location are not directly supported; i.e. given a (lat, long) what is the grid value? [Such operations are buried inside more complex actors, but not available to the external user.]
At the ENM workshop in Albuquerque in Jan. 2008, an actor with a simpler interface that could return values at an input location was requested. This would be useful for building new measures of omission and commission or other calculational purposes. Other general purpose utility operations might be returning maximum, minimum, or average values.

A new actor called 'AscGridValue' has been added to the Kepler src and an example workflow using it has been added to Demos/ENM/
This actor takes a *.asc file name and (xloc, yloc) values and interpolates to return a value at the input location.
This provides a basic solution for the requested capability (although other features could be added). Note that this actor has not been added to the actor tree (and documentation is still missing)
