in r1179 - finished going through all of this section, fixed some typos, figure numbers and so forth. All that's left to do is make some new screenshots (i've put comments next to each that's needed) and fix the documentation related bugs.

only thing left now is updating the screenshots.

debi did the screenshots in r1194.
i've accepted all changes and closed all comments, and 3.0 is done in r1212.
