Bug #2014

Disallow editing of the schema for data
Added by Dan Higgins almost 20 years ago.
Updated over 18 years ago.
Description
suggested by Laura Downey
I think this refers to the Digir and EML data source actors and the window that
appear when Configure is done on these actors
Data source schemas are immuatable, so editing shouldbe disabled. However, its
not clear what is meant by this bug. QueryBuilder is opened for these actors
and should allow joins and queries based on the schemas, so... I'm not sure if
anything needs to be done here. Downey will hopefully clarify.
laura, could you please clarify this?
When the schema is displayed in one of the configure dialogs (edit parameters)
for a data source, the "schemaDef:" field is actually editable which makes it
appear that the schema can be edited, when in fact it can't be (this is what I
was told when I asked about this way back when), so I wanted to make the
schema fields non-editable so users know they can't edit the schema.
This bug has nothing to do with the query builder dialog. That appears when
you "open" the data actor. The "edit parameters" dialog appears when you
select "configure actor" and that is the dialog I'm referencing here.
OK. I also clarified with Jing that several of the parameters in this dialog
need not be viewed by users, and so should be hidden, probably using the expert
mode option for attributes. I think both the schema and the sql attributes
should be read-only and hidden.
Set schema and sql parameter visibility to EXPERT. No it is hidden by common user.
